Dominique Sutton from North Carolina Central has won StatSheet's MEAC Player of the Week for February 6th. Howard's Simuel Frazier has been recognized as StatSheet MEAC Freshman of the Week. And last but not least, Morgan State's Aric Brooks is StatSheet's MEAC 6th Man of the Week. Sutton had great stats in shooting (60%), rebounding (8.5 per game), and scoring (20.5 pts per game). The North Carolina Central senior put these numbers up in victories against Maryland-Eastern Shore and Florida A&M.
Sutton topped all scoring and rebounding for the Eagles with 18 points and 9 rebounds in a big 77-46 win over Maryland-Eastern Shore. He followed that up with 4 assists and 72% shooting in a 78-61 win over Florida A&M.
This is the second time this season that Dominique Sutton has been named StatSheet MEAC Player of the Week. The runner-up this week is Ray Willis, a junior from North Carolina Central. Honorable mention goes to our own Tony Gallo.
StatSheet MEAC Freshman of the Week: Howard's Simuel Frazier
Simuel Frazier averaged 27 minutes of playing time starting both games for Howard. His averages in both assists (4.0 per game) and free throws (5.5 per game) were the best among all MEAC freshmen. In an 82-76 win over South Carolina State, Frazier tallied 9 points and 5 assists. Then in a 78-65 loss to Maryland-Eastern Shore, he led scoring with 20 points plus 3 assists.
This marks the second time this season that Simuel Frazier has won the StatSheet MEAC Freshman of the Week. Brandon Ford from Howard gets runner-up. Tyshawn Bell from Delaware State takes honorable mention.
StatSheet MEAC 6th Man of the Week: Morgan State's Aric Brooks
Aric Brooks, a 6-6 Senior guard/forward, averaged 26 minutes over two games for the Bears. In a 68-63 loss to Hampton, Brooks put up 18 points and 7 rebounds. During an 88-86 loss to Coppin State, he racked up 14 points and 4 rebounds.
This is the first time this season that Aric Brooks has won the StatSheet MEAC 6th Man of the Week. Arnold Louis, a senior forward from Savannah State, is runner up. Jarvoris Bryant, a junior forward from Bethune-Cookman, receives honorable mention. Coppin State players have been named StatSheet MEAC Player of the Week 3 times this season.
